I have been looking at putting a 3pt finished mower on my tractor and have a few questions. Ill be finsih mowing about 3 acres plus a couple acres of pasture.1) Is the 5ft Finish mower that tractor Supply Company selling any good? Who actually makes manufactures it? I know TSC rebadges lots of its products.2) The TSC mower I was looking at says lawn grass only. Now I can understand I dont want to be cutting small saplings and running through a field like I would with a bush hog but can I run it through the pasture with wild grass, a little alfafa, timothy and misc pasture grasses.? Would it damge the unit or just cut down the life of the blades. I am only looking at a couple of acres a few times a year and would hate to have to pay for an additional bush hog to to the pastures.3) What about king kutter finish mowers (look similar if not the same to TSC brand) 4) What about other sub $1k finish mowers? Money isnt going to allow anymore $$$ and cant find anything used locally.

My King Kutter kuts well but it does drift side to side a little, which can leave an unkut strip. :)
You can cut pasture type grasses I'm sure, as long as you are not trying to cut very much off at one time.

I don't know about the finish mower sold at TSC (probably a King Kutter), but with my Rhino mower my tractor does not like any tall thick growth at all. The finish mower would work OK if the ground is level and the grass is not more than 6" tall or so (and even that can be trouble if its real thick). If you aren't mowing very often I don't think you'll be happy with the performance of the finish mower. ....

I have a 6ft Caroni finish mower that I bought for about $1000 a year ago. I routinely use it for mowing our 6-7 acres of pasture (some of it very bumpy). It cuts very well, but I never let the pasture grass get over 7-8". ....

I have to take back what I said about the King Kutter moving side to side too much. The problem was more in my own 3 point linkage than in the mower's.
